I'm a middle-aged overweight, white, female schoolteacher. I live on 8 acres and am trying to develop a lifestlye less dependent on international trade, commercial food growers and corporate America in general. I'm tired of the mediocrity that has become the accepted standard in our world. I worry about the lack of ethics and personal pride that I see about me. I celebrate those young people who look at the future directly (yes, they're out there!) and determine to make a difference. I revere the old, who know more than we'll ever be able to learn about making a life in a hard world.
